Bonnie and Clyde: The New Hollywood

Bonnie and Clyde Trailer

Bonnie and Clyde (1967) written by Warren Beatty was a new film in the industry that left the normal "crime-thriller" script and adopted a script about two mass murderers. It seems as if violence and death will always have a way of entertaining people in society, even nowadays. At the time though, this plot was crazy and unconventional but Warner Bros. decided to finance it anyways whether it was because Warner Bros. was just sold to Seven Arts Studio or because Jack Warner was at the end of his career. Regardless, this film was fascinating to me because one of the biggest film makers we see nowadays is Warner Bros. and I think these big monumental shifts through film history is definitely a big part of them becoming so popular and successful. These stories bring recognition and popularity to their name which in the long run will keep their brand and business known by many.

Getting into the short trailer of Bonnie and Clyde, I notice that the trailer does a great job to let the viewer know what the movie was going to be about. They were not trying to hide the unconventional plot by any means and used it to their marketing advantage as a matter of fact. It starts by showing Bonnie and Clyde, young and in love. Then gets right into a shootout between Bonnie and Clyde, and the Police. This gives good curiosity to the viewer because they wonder why Bonnie and Clyde are in trouble with the police. Finally, the trailer shows some good humor with Bonnie and Clyde messing with the sheriff which is great in bringing in viewers because everyone loves a little bit of humor. Overall, I can tell why this movie changed history in the film market.

Films like Bonnie and Clyde are very important for film history because what viewers see today can depend largely on it. For example, what if Jack Warner never took to risk to fund Bonnie and Clyde and decided to play it safe and end his career safe and soundly. Fortunately, he decided to fund this film and help make it the culture changing film that it is today. Nowadays, people see many action thrillers and these types of movies are some of my favorites. Without Bonnie and Clyde, some of our favorite films may have never come to be. Film history is very important and I think many people don't realize this in today's world because they don't notice everything that goes into making a film. The film influence that Bonnie and Clyde has was probably its most important element.

Rear Window: Best Shots/Angles

Rear Window, which is about a photographer named L.B. Jeffries that recently got injured trying to get  a good shot on a racetrack. He ended up getting hit by one of the race cars and it put him in a wheel chair for several weeks. He suddenly noticed something very suspicious when one of his neighbor's wives went missing. L.B Jeffries then tried to convince his girlfriend, Lisa Fremont, and his detective friend, Thomas Doyle, that Lars had murdered his wife and was trying to dispose of her body. Good Will Hunting: Cinematography

One of my favorite films of all time is Good Will Hunting directed by Gus Van Sant. This movie tells the story of a man named Will Hunting who is a brilliant yet troubled young man from Southern Boston. He works as a janitor at the prestigious school Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Despite the fact that Will does not have any formal education past high school, Will has a genius level intellect and is able to solve very complex math problems that have stumped even some of the math professors at MIT. His talents though are recognized by a math professor at MIT by the name of Gerald Lambeau. Professor Lambeau wants Will to recognize his talents and potential. As mentioned, Will is a troubled teen and got into a fight with some guys who bullied him as a kid. As part of his sentence for the altercation, Will is required to attend therapy sessions with Lambeau, who eventually turns Will over to Lambeau's old friend Sean Maguire. Through a series of therapy se...
